Flax seed Dates Energy Balls.

Seeds are the holy grail of plant-foods. They’re tiny, shy and little – easily over looked  and ignored – or at best, used as a salad garnish. Today I am going to share how you can create seed energy balls with these little gems.

Flax, is one of the highest rated antioxidants amongst plant foods, coming up top for polyphenols, which are super stars in the antioxidant world.

All seeds are high in essential fats. In this recipe, I have used flax seeds ..they are rich in  omega-3 – an essential fat that is excellent for heart and brain function, often in short supply in most diets.

Dates are considered energy giving and healing food , it heals the disturbances of intestines and is a mild but effective laxative .They are also considered a tonic food especially for heart weakness and as a convalescence food , boiling the dates with milk or even water makes it a easily digestible tonic food.

When that sweet tooth calls for a lusciously decadent treat, feel good indulging these healthier alternatives that’ll offer nutrition and satisfy your taste buds as well...as they are naturally sweetened with dates and with the goodness of flaxseeds and cranberry they taste super delicious.

Ingredients:

1 cup -Fresh grated coconut
1/2 cup -  Ground flaxseed Powder
Powder of 10 cardomom
30 Madjool dates
1/4 cup dry cranberry/raisins

Method:

Take  a cast iron skillet and dry roast freshly grated coconut until it becomes golden brown in color..keep it aside.

Grind roasted flax seeds in a food processor until coarse. (I have used Organic ready made flaxseed powder)If you have a powerful food processor, this will only take a few seconds.

Add the dates and raisins and then process until everything starts combining together and the dates/raisins are well broken down.

Add the  roasted fresh coconut, flaxseed, process until everything is evenly combined.

It should stick together nicely if you compress between your fingers.

Take small chunks with a teaspoon and roll together into balls.

Pop into the fridge to chill and firm up (should keep for a few days) or enjoy them
